Eminem leads U.S. singles chart for third week
NEW YORK - Eminem led Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart for a third week on Thursday, a day after losing his crown on the albums chart. His track "Love the Way You Lie," featuring Rihanna, held Katy Perry's former chart-topper "California Gurls" at No. 2. But Perry's follow-up, "Teenage Dream," jumped 13 places to No. 7. Both tunes come from her upcoming album, also called "Teenage Dream," set for U.S. and Canadian release on August 24.
Beatles and iTunes deal still at impasse -- Yoko Ono
LOS ANGELES - Don't hold your breath waiting for Beatles songs to go on sale at iTunes or other online retailers, Yoko Ono said on Thursday. The Fab Four have long resisted the allure of digital downloads, instead selling millions of old-fashioned compact discs last year after remastering the catalog.
30th season will be the last for ET's Mary Hart
LOS ANGELES - After 29 years as a host, Mary Hart is saying goodbye to the "Entertainment Tonight" celebrity news television show when it wraps up its 30th season that starts this fall. "I've reached a point when I clearly realize it's time for a change. There are many things I want to do in my life and I'd better get on with them," the popular TV host said in a statement on Thursday.
Beach Boys label after Katy Perry's "California Gurl"
NEW YORK - The Beach Boys record label is going after Katy Perry for using the lyrics to their classic song, "California Girls," on her new summer anthem, "California Gurls." Beach Boys members Mike Love and Brian Wilson co-wrote "California Girls," which reached No. 3 on the Hot 100 in 1965.
Naomi Campbell tells court of "dirty pebbles"
THE HAGUE - Supermodel Naomi Campbell, testifying reluctantly at a war crimes trial, said on Thursday she was given "dirty looking pebbles" but did not know if they were blood diamonds from former Liberian ruler Charles Taylor. Complaining that having to appear at the court in The Hague was an "inconvenience," Campbell said two unidentified men came to her bedroom after she attended a charity dinner with Taylor and then-South African President Nelson Mandela in 1997.

LOS ANGELES - Rob Reiner has directed hit films such as "When Harry Met Sally," "This Is Spinal Tap" and "Stand By Me." His new movie "Flipped" is a coming-of-age romantic comedy that opens in major U.S. cites on Friday. "Flipped" stars Madeline Carroll and Callan McAuliffe as two kids in eighth grade who are experiencing the ups-and-downs of first love.
Nigel Lythgoe returns to "American Idol"
LOS ANGELES - Producer Nigel Lythgoe is returning to hit television singing contest "American Idol," a show he helped create, as it revamps its lineup of judges and its format to liven up the program in the face of slipping viewership. Lythgoe, a prolific producer who also is a judge on the Fox network's "So You Think You Can Dance," has been named an executive producer of "American Idol" for its 10th season, starting in January 2011, Fox said in a statement on Thursday.
Rock band Weezer signs to Epitaph
NEW YORK - After spending 16 years on Geffen Records, Weezer has gone the indie route and signed to Epitaph Records. The group's label debut, "Hurley," is due in stores September 14, preceded by first single "Memories." Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz announced the signing on Twitter Wednesday night, writing, "Rivers, Pat, Brian and Scott, Welcome to Epitaph homies!"
Ballet star Duato ditches native Spain for Russia
MOSCOW - The first foreigner to be appointed chief choreographer of a leading Russian ballet troupe since the Bolshevik revolution has vowed to overturn the Soviet-era constraints of dance and bring modernity to the Russian stage. Nacho Duato will leave his native Spain in January 2011 for the Mikhailovsky Theater, the second largest in Russia's artistic capital St Petersburg, in a bid to bring modern dance to the traditional home of Swan Lake.
